Early Life

He had started playing cricket at an early age. When he was at the age of 11 he started taking cricket coaching at the Gandhi Bagh academy in Meerut where he was training under the supervision of his maternal uncle Tanqib Akhtar. Sameer has been inspired by his uncle to take cricket seriously and he also had to face the anger of his father to divert his attention from studies.

At the age of 16, he made his first-class debut for Uttar Pradesh in the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy. He could not do anything special in his first-class match that was against Madhya Pradesh on 27 January 2020. He cannot even open the account in the first inning violin his second innings he was out only for 2 runs. He made his List A debut that is for Uttar Pradesh in the 2021-22 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He has scored 205 runs in the 11 list matches at an average of he made his T20 debut for the Uttar Pradesh team on 16 October 2022 playing against the Manipur.

He had been coming into the LimeLight during the 2023 Uttar Pradesh T20 league when he emerged as the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 455 runs in 9 innings.
